Miss Shauna
“Love. But not as in love songs. It’s about authentic, unconditional love for yourself and others. My music is about authentic expression of human emotions and the love that is unique to you.”
This is what you’ll hear if you ask Miss Shauna what her and her music are all about. The sassy, bi-sexual, singer is all about expressing love, being her authentic self and listening to her inner voice, but it hasn’t always been that way.
“My past isn’t something I want to dwell on or get into but I feel like without specific experiences I wouldn’t have been able to delve as deeply into myself or be able to appreciate how protective, strong and loving my inner voice is.” Says Miss Shauna.
Miss Shauna is a singer, dancer, actor and teacher who can’t get enough of the stage, which is her medium through which she connects to the world. Her mission is to connect from the heart with humanity, to use her talents to light people up and inspire them, as well as herself, to do good in this world. She strives to put forth a meaningful and powerful message and to make the world a better place. Miss Shauna tends to focus on the message that each of her songs bring, covers and originals alike, making sure that the intention behind every song is to teach, uplift, inspire or even just give solace to unexpressed emotions.
“I’m all about authentic expression, expressing love about all else. Something I believe the world desperately needs right now.” Shauna says. “It can be hard in a criticizing world that likes to stifle truth and freedom but that’s why it’s more important now than ever to be and express the love that is unique to you.”
Her stage name comes from a brief but fabulous stint dancing at a gay bar. She has a background in dance and comedic acting – that in combination with her powerful voice, makes her an overall captivating performer. Combining her background in the arts, along with her intimate storytelling, every show and performance is a window into who she is.
Miss Shauna discovered her voice when she was nine years old after her mother, a classical pianist, sat down at her piano and asked her to try singing something for some voiceover work. Her mother’s musical ear instantly recognized that there was a lot of potential in that little girl’s voice. She worked with Shauna on a few basic vocal techniques and that sparked an instant and infinite passion in Shauna’s heart for singing.
Her passion only grew. Every moment not at school or in ballet class, Miss Shauna would mimic the vocal prowess of singers like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera and then the magical talents of Alicia Keys. These singers helped shape the voice that is now Miss Shauna.
“We each have a mission, a purpose on this planet and it’s up to us to shine brightly to light the way for others to come.” Says Shauna.
